lawyer lawyering

my intention, for those that don't know, in law school was to become a defense attorney. That was waylaid by a few things and I ended up here, which is great. Not a lot of need for defense though.



So I'm watching the indictment today, following the case, and I just gotta say. I WOULD NOT TAKE THIS CASE. FUCK NO.

1. he has a reputation and history of not paying his attorneys.

2. he has a history and reputation of asking/forcing his counsel to commit crimes on his behalf
2a. some of his former counsel have already gone to jail on his behalf

3. while the case is a career maker, it will break any career just as much

4. it is a full time case that would preclude taking or continuing any other clients

so I'm terrified to see what counsel will take this.

I mean, if nobody volunteers, I assume he gets a what's it called, a public defender, right? Now that person I'd feel sorry for.

I'm sure there's plenty of ready-to-retire or minimum-pass bar exam types ready to go.

But not any of the lawyers we know. Thor's hammer, I'd hate to be the unfortunate PD on the hook for it. I think I'd find a new profession.
