Where were you when...

[Voice to Text]

Three years ago, not quite today exactly, New York was attacked and Things Fell Apart. A lot. I was 13, my dad had just died and I spent the week hiding and glued to the TV trying to find out what was happening at my first foster home. I'm still not sure what happened really beyond some mutants went batshit. I mean, I know what the news said, but it doesn't all make sense, but whatever. At the time, it was just terrifying.

I was proud to be a New Yorker though, the time where when things get nasty, we get tougher. We're tough, but we just get tougher. We came together, helped each other. It's weird now though, because last year at this time, I didn't know I was a mutant. Or the year before that, or the year before that. This year though, I'm a mutant. It changes the perspective on stuff, a lot.

Eh, just something I'm thinking about. I should probably stop watching the news now.

PS. Thanks for the gum, Amanda

Thank you, Matt, for posting this. It is not the easy topic to think about, but it is also something that should not be forgotten, I think.

I was in New York with the other New Mutants at that time. We spent the time trying to keep each other safe and to do what we could to help other people while not endangering ourselves. It was a very frightening time, but I think we learned much about ourselves during it.

It redefined New York and America...and we are still finding out how.
